The Farafra Oasis is a small oasis located in the Western Desert of Egypt. Its capital is the Farafra Palace, which stands 170 kilometers south of the Bahariya Oasis and 627 kilometers from Cairo, connected by the Cairo-Oasis Desert Road. The Farafra Oasis has gained worldwide recognition due to its unique location, rich history, beautiful rocks and shapes, warm and sunny atmosphere, and the Crystal Mountains in its region. It has become a popular tourist and scientific attraction. The oasis is considered one village and is the most isolated of the New Valley oases. It is famous for its strong traditions and customs. The oldest part of the village is located on the foot of a hill, surrounded by palm groves and palm trees. Nearby are hot sulfur springs and Lake Al Mufid. The oasis boasts a number of natural springs and many palm and olive trees. One of the highlights of the area is "Well Six," a deep, self-flowing well located six kilometers west of the city of Farafra. Its water temperature remains at 24 degrees Celsius throughout the year. A tourist village was established near the well, offering a restaurant, cafeteria, swimming pool, and green spaces, combining elements of natural and environmental tourism in the area. One of the most famous attractions of the Farafra Oasis is the White Desert, a place visited by tourists from all over the world. The oasis is connected to other oases and the Nile Valley by a well-developed land transportation network. The area is also home to a wonderful collection of wild plants and herbs that can be used for healing. These include: * Ashar, hibiscus, mint, and damsasa: These plants are used to treat rheumatism. Mint is also used for digestive system diseases and colic of all kinds. * Al-Igliji: Sugar dates are used to treat diabetics. * Al-Handal: This bitter plant is used topically to treat rheumatic pain. The fruit is heated, cut into two halves, and placed on the site of pain. | |
